Peter Simms - About Me
In 1960 I bought my first Jaguar car. It was a 1953
XK 120 Fixed-Head Coupe. Over the next few years I
had a great deal of fun with this car. It had 80,000
miles on it and was well worn, so much so I was forced
to take it off the road.
My next Jaguar was an XK 140 Drop Head Coupe.
It was pretty baffed out as well and I wasn't sure
what I would do with it.
In 1964 I acquired an XK 120 Roadster. It was a basket
case, in worse condition than my other two Jaguars.
I did a full restoration of this car leading up to
winning the Canadian Concourse D'Elegance three times.
Read the full story of this restoration in the History
section.
Over the years I also acquired the following:
Mark 5 Convertible.
Mark 5 Sedan.
Mark 7 Sedan.
XK 140 Fixed-Head Coupe.
I realized I would never live long enough to restore
all these cars, so I sold and gave away parts from
them to hungry enthusiasts. Some parts remain in my
possession.
In 1972 I moved to Alberta and was forced to sell
the roadster.
It ended up in California and may still be there.
It was described by California concourse judges as
an exquisite, immaculate car restoration.
I kept my first Jaguar, the 1953 Fixed-Head Coupe.
The restoration of this car is my principal focus.
It now has a C-type head, burled walnut dashboard,
stainless-steel exhaust system and Dayton 72 spoke
chrome wheels.
I now find I have more parts than I will ever use,
most of these are listed in the parts
section.
